Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past year or so, you’ll know that both Inter and Juventus in Italy have been interested in Emerson Palmieri.
The Italy international has been at Chelsea for a few years now, but it has felt that ever since he arrived from Roma, he’s been linked with a return to Serie A.
This summer has been particularly heavy, especially with the arrival of Ben Chilwell at Stamford Bridge, as the former Leicester City star’s arrival has pushed Palmieri further down the pecking order.
This hasn’t stopped him from being picked by Roberto Mancini for the national team, starting the game against Poland, but it’s certainly something the manager will want addressed down the line, as he might be forced to choose someone else if his left-back isn’t playing semi-regularly for his club.
This is something Palmieri spoke of with Rai Sport, relayed by FC Inter News, when asked about his current Chelsea situation.
He said: “When I arrived [with the national team], I change mentally, I feel like an important player and part of the group. At Chelsea, the beginning of the season isn’t going as I would like. I just have to work and do my best when I am on the field”.
That, however, has been the issue, as the 26-year-old has yet to be picked by Frank Lampard in a league game, only making two appearances so far, both coming in the EFL Cup.
As he said, all he can do is work hard and hope for the best for now.
