After what seems like months of stories linking Tiemoué Bakayoko with a return to Milan, it appears the defensive midfielder could be heading to France instead.
The player is currently out of favour at Chelsea, who are looking to offload him, but the arrival of Sandro Tonali at San Siro forced the Serie A side to apply the brakes on a deal for the France international, wanting a lower fee than what the Blues were requesting.
There’s been little news since then, which has allowed Paris Saint-Germain to make their move, according to Le Parisien.
It’s stated the French side are ‘negotiating with their London rival to sign the international’, and Chelsea, ‘who, while prioritising a transfer, aren’t against a paid loan’.
However, Leonardo is looking for a more flexible option similar to the deal they agreed with Inter for Mauro Icardi last year, meaning a free loan with an option to buy.
Chelsea are said to be ‘thinking about this, knowing that a successful loan would add value to the player’, therefore bringing new opportunities down the line even if Paris Saint-Germain don’t trigger their option.
They then explain an English source has told them the road leading Bakayoko to Paris is now a ‘serious one’, and it would allow him to team up with Kylian Mbappé once again, with the two playing together at AS Monaco when they won Ligue 1 in 2017.
With the young forward asking his club for reinforcements, it’s said he would be ‘delighted’ with the arrival of his former teammate.
