Chelsea are eyeing up a move for Atalanta defender Joakim Maehle after his impressive displays at the European Championship.
That’s according to Tutto Atalanta, who say the Blues are watching the full-back’s performances at the Euros with interest.
They explain that Maehle, who has been one of the stars of Denmark’s run to the knockout stages, ‘is not going unnoticed’ by scouts from the top clubs in Europe.
Inter Milan have already tried to enquire about a deal as they look for a replacement for Achraf Hakimi, but they are not the only ones showing interest.
Chelsea are also keen and are ‘keeping a close eye on him’ as they look for an alternative to Hakimi, whom they had tried to sign from Inter but ultimately lost out to Paris Saint Germain.
Atalanta are not interested in a sale, though, and only if a ‘sensational offer’ were to arrive at the club would they consider selling Maehle this summer.
Whether Chelsea will offer such a price isn’t mentioned, but they were willing to pay big for Hakimi, so there’s every chance they could be convinced if Maehle continues to impress for Denmark.
