Home to a handful of talented youngsters, Sassuolo have a new breakout star this season called Lorenzo Pellegrini.

The 20-year-old midfielder, who already made a number of appearances last season, is quickly becoming a key player for the Serie A side, and his performances are attracting a certain amount of attention from his home country and abroad.

This is, at least, according to Guerin Sportivo in Italy.

Bought from AS Roma in 2015 for just over £1m, Lorenzo has every chance of returning to his former side, considering they had a €10m buy-back clause inserted in the deal taking him to Sassuolo, but that doesn’t seem to be putting off other clubs.

According to the Italian magazine, both Manchester City and Chelsea, as well as Juventus and Inter, have been tracking his development.

It shouldn’t really come as much of a surprise, considering Antonio Conte’s knowledge of his home country’s youngsters, having managed the national team for a couple of years.

As for Pep Guardiola, any young player capable of passing a football is most likely on his radar, and Pellegrini is more than capable of doing that.

This sounds like the two clubs keeping an eye on the player for now rather than serious interest, but fully expect more links to appear if the youngster continues to perform for Sassuolo.

It’s also worth bearing in mind this isn’t the first time the Premier League pair have been linked with the youngster, with Corriere dello Sport reporting the interest last month.
