Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger says he is looking to show ‘a different face’ with Germany at Euro 2020 this summer.
The German defender has become a regular this season, starting every single one of their Premier League games since the middle of December after missing the first half of the campaign through injury.
He has earned plenty of praise for his performances, despite Chelsea’s struggles at the back under Frank Lampard.
He is expected to be a part of Germany’s squad for Euro 2020, with some predicting he will be the first choice for Joachim Löw.
Should that be the case, he will be looking to ensure his country, who he has 30 caps for, put on a better showing than at the World Cup two years ago, where they were knocked out in the group stages.
Rudiger was a part of that squad and says he wants to show himself in a different light after that disappointment.
“I only ever get to know about it (being the first choice) through the media,” he told Frankfurter Rundschau.
“I’m completely relaxed; I know my role, I don’t have to talk much. I know what to do.
“When you compare my performance at Chelsea and for the DFB – the gap is a bit wide.
“That’s why I’m looking forward to the European Championship, that I’ll show a different face.”
