Chelsea are set to make another approach for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly soon, according to claims from the Italian media on Wednesday.
Tutto Mercato Web claim Antonio Conte will be going for the defender in the next transfer window, as he’s still keen on the player after failed attempts from last summer.
Despite all the efforts from Napoli to keep Koulibaly, the website claims the club could be ready to let him go this time, as they currently have five central defenders.
But the player is still pretty important to Napoli, having started all of their games this season when available. That’s why he would only leave for the right offer, which in this case would be something around €55m.
After all the approaches Koulibaly had last summer, he ended up signing a new deal with Napoli, which now runs until 2021. He was signed from Genk in 2014 for only €8m.
Chelsea don’t seem to have too many problems in defence, but it would be no surprise if Conte wants to strengthen ahead of Champions League football next season.
