Chelsea have made a proposal for Flamengo youngster Matheus França, with the Brazilian side set to respond ‘in the next few days’.

That’s according to Globo Esporte, who say the Blues have ‘made proposals’ to the 19-year-old’s entourage regarding a possible transfer this summer.

They explain that the player’s representatives recently travelled to London to meet with Chelsea, as well as Crystal Palace, to discuss a transfer and what they are willing to pay for the player.

Flamengo have set a €25m asking price on the player and are willing to allow that figure to be reached with the inclusion of variables and bonuses.

The plan at Chelsea is that he will sign for the Blues and then be immediately loaned out to Strasbourg, another club owned by Todd Boehly and co.

The belief is that Chelsea are more than willing to match Flamengo’s asking price for the player and the Brazilian side are more than willing to sell if any offer ‘meets the expectations’ of President Rodolfo Landim.

França is currently with his team and travelled for a clash with Athletico-PR but was chosen by the management to be cut from the squad list for that game.

This is a common occurrence, with one player in the group regularly removed from the match list minutes before games start, so shouldn’t be seen as an indication that França is on the move.

Chelsea, though, are interested and seemingly willing to pay what Flamengo want for the 19-year-old midfielder.
