Chelsea have ‘made an enquiry’ for Palmeiras centre-back Gustavo Gómez ahead of the summer transfer window.
That’s according to La Nacion, who say that sources in Brazil have confirmed there has been a move by the European champions.
This has also been confirmed by people ‘close to the player’, who have acknowledged that Chelsea have made a ‘survey’ for the 28-year-old.
Gómez, for those that don’t know him, has been at Palmeiras since 2018 when he initially joined on loan from AC Milan.
He made the move permanent last year and signed a four-year deal in the process, so Chelsea will ‘have to pay the millions demanded by Palmeiras’ if they do pursue a deal.
At the minute they seem to be just making enquiries and with this coming from Paraguay and not Brazil, we’ll have to take it with a pinch of salt for the time being.
Chelsea do want a centre-back this summer, though, that’s been established, and Gómez’s name can now be added to the list.
