At the end of the last week, the Brazilian media had a fresh story about Chelsea’s interest in Estevão Willian.
With the Palmeiras wonderkid scoring his first goal in the Copa Libertadores at the age of 16, it was said the Blues are one of the big contenders to sign him.
It turns out that as journalist Jorge Nicola now talks about the youngster’s future, there’s very interesting news for Chelsea fans who believe the club are actually going for him.
€60m is the amount of his release clause, but since that would not be paid all at once, then Palmeiras would still need to accept the offer.
Nicola claims the Brazilian club are not keen on accepting it, as they believe his price can still go up, and are even thinking about giving him a new contract.
Besides the Premier League club who placed the offer, there are two other English sides in the race, as well as Barcelona.
Chelsea were recently said to be in contact for his signing, with club officials travelling to Brazil, so they should be one of those in the battle. The question is if it’s them who made the offer, but they’re the likeliest candidates.
