Alex Telles has been linked with a move to Chelsea for years.
Back in 2017, after the Brazilian had been the subject of several reports of interest from the Blues, Sport Witness contacted the player’s agent to find out his view on the potential transfer.
Fernando Otto explained the fullback had been a target for Chelsea since before he moved from Gremio to Turkey in 2014: “When he went to Galatasaray, we had an offer from Chelsea for Alex. But at the time, we had already confirmed a pre-contract with Galatasaray, and we could not go back.
“But there was information exchange, last year too. And I believe that maybe one day he will play for Chelsea. I don’t know if it’s going to be this season or the next. But I feel like one day he can play for Chelsea.”
Claims have continued since then, and this weekend A Bola take a look at the player’s situation. His contract expires in 2021, and the 27 year old isn’t keen to renew.
Therefore, A Bola say ‘everything indicates’ he’s set to leave Porto in the summer window.
Chelsea are the only club mentioned, and it’s stated they’ve launched ‘several’ charm offensives for the player. That likely goes back years, and a lot will now depend on how Frank Lampard sees things.
It’s worth noting Leicester City have watched Porto a lot this season, so could be looking at Telles to replace Ben Chilwell, with the England international also the subject of reported Chelsea interest.
