Chelsea interest in 29-year-old ‘is real’ – Club and agents meeting ‘in coming days’ as worry sets in

One of the growing transfer stories in Italy at the moment is Chelsea’s alleged interest in Paulo Dybala, currently under contract at AS Roma.

We covered a bit of it this morning, and the bottom line is that the Blues are keen because of Mauricio Pochettino, with the 29-year-old Argentine forward having a €12m release clause in his contract.

Now, Sport Mediaset, relayed by Napoli Magazine, expand on this, and explain that while Dybala wants to stay at Roma, his agents and the Serie A side aren’t as serene.

Because the clause is so easily accessible for a club like Chelsea, it’s claimed ‘a meeting’ between the Serie A player’s agents and Tiago Pinto is ‘expected in the coming days’ as there is a real worry the Stamford Bridge side could seriously come forward.

They make it clear Todd Boehly and co.’s interest in Dybala ‘is real’, and should he be presented by a ‘much more substantial salary’, he could think twice about staying in Italy’s capital.

Therefore, a meeting is taking place in the near future to see if there is a way of removing this release clause, which is valid for Chelsea and other foreign clubs until July 31st and is hanging over everyone like a threatening dark cloud.
