Romelu Lukaku’s return to Inter Milan this summer was such an intense saga that sometimes it even feels like he was bought from Chelsea, while he’s actually just loaned to the Serie A side for one season.

That permanent move, however, should still happen in the near future, at least according to what is reported by Sport Mediaset now.

The outlet (via FC Inter 1908) claims Lukaku has already told friends and teammates that his loan from Chelsea is ‘only the beginning’ of his second spell at Inter Milan, as he’s set to stay for much longer than this one-year loan.

It’s said the player’s project is ‘clear’, and the clubs already have a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ regarding a future permanent move, and they have one year to find the solution to get that deal done.

Inter Milan reportedly paid Chelsea €8m to have the striker on loan, and the main issue for a potential purchase were the €113m the Blues had spent to sign him in 2021.

With the clubs now set to talk soon about a new fee, a lot should depend on how well Lukaku will do in this new spell in Italy.
