Back towards the end of May, there was a big story in La Gazette du Fennec, who claimed that Chelsea had made Saïd Benrahma one of their summer ‘priorities’.
Already keen back in January, the Blues reportedly ‘accelerated’ matters recently and had ‘officially contacted’ the forward ahead of a summer move.
On top of that, it was revealed Brentford, where the Algeria international currently plays, wanted around €40m for their star, although that could be reduced to a ‘more reasonable’ €30-35m in the post-Covid-19 market.
Well, most of this has now been confirmed by RMC Sport’s Mohamed Bouhafsi, who took to social media to announce Chelsea had ‘entered discussions’ with the entourage of the winger, and have gone as far as letting the Bees know of their interest.
However, the Blues have yet to make an offer to Brentford, clearly just trying to find out a bit more about what a transfer would cost.
They aren’t the only ones keen, however, as Arsenal and Leicester are also said to be ‘interested’.
