Chelsea’s Andreas Christensen remains the ‘only realistic possibility’ for RB Leipzig as they look to add a central defender before tonight’s deadline.
The German side have been hunting for defensive reinforcements this month, with Ibrahima Konaté and Willi Orban out until March and April respectively.
They looked to have tied up a deal for Freiburg’s Robin Koch, but that has failed at the last minute after Freiburg coach Christian Streich put a stop to the move.
That ‘doesn’t mean anything good’ for Leipzig and has caused a ‘super meltdown’ at the club, according to Tag 24, with Germany’s transfer window closing at 6 pm.
The Denmark international was linked with Leipzig back on the 24th of this month, with Bild reporting that they were eyeing up a loan deal.
They may now revive that interest after missing out on Koch, although it’s unlikely Chelsea boss Frank Lampard would be keen to let him go, something Bild made clear in their initial report
Indeed, they claim today that ‘it is unlikely that anything will change’ at Leipzig, suggesting even if they do make a late move for Christensen, it’s unlikely to go through.
