Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah may have missed his opportunity to join Bayern Munich, with Thomas Tuchel set for less power when it comes to transfers at the club.

That’s according to SportBILD, who say it was the German coach pushing to sign the Chelsea man, but that power has now been taken from him.

The newspaper explains that the failure to sign Chalobah was a ‘bitter’ experience for Tuchel, who had been keen to add him to his squad on deadline day.

He had already made contact with the player, who he worked with at Chelsea, and the Blues had even sent a draft agreement for a deal to go through.

They would have allowed Chalobah to move to Bayern on loan for the season for a figure of €2-2.5m and didn’t even include an obligation to buy in the deal, so there was very little danger involved for the German giants.

However, the club’s leadership and transfer committee for the summer ‘rejected the deal’ and in doing so, may have ended Chalobah’s hopes of ever making the move.

That’s because, in the future, Tuchel will have less say over transfers than he did this summer, with him now limited to the role of ‘expressing wishes’ and giving his assessment of players.

He’s no longer a part of the transfer process as he was with Bayern’s ad-hoc transfer committee this summer, meaning a loss of power for him in terms of signings moving forwards.

Thus, he can no longer push to sign Chalobah from Chelsea as hard as he might like, merely offer him up as an idea again, perhaps in January, which is seemingly unlikely to convince those in charge in Bavaria.
