Alvaro Morata is big news for Marca in their Monday edition, not only do they claim that Antonio Conte keeps telephoning the player, they say Napoli want him too.
In the case that Napoli lose Gonzalo Higuain to Juventus, Arsenal, or anyone else, Napoli will see Morata, experienced in Serie A, as a prime option to replace the player.
But just like for Chelsea, who Marca say have submitted a €60m bid, the Spanish newspaper believe Napoli would be told Morata isn’t for sale, with Madrid wanting him to stay right where he is.
However, there is some light. Marca say the minimum Real Madrid would accept for Alvaro Morata is €80m, which is €20m more than Chelsea have offered.
Therefore, it’s not a case of Morata being completely not-for-sale, it’s more a case of there being a very high price slapped on him.
Perhaps the whole not-for-sale stance is a tactic for Madrid, or maybe they are happy to keep him but at €80m they’d be happier to have the money instead.
