Chelsea have arrived ‘out of the blue’ to snatch Geovany Quenda from Sporting Club de Portugal and away from Manchester United.
That’s according to Record and Mais Futebol, who report that both Sporting and Quenda already have a deal in place with Chelsea.
Record report that while everything indicated that Manchester United would be signing Quenda this summer, Chelsea arrived ‘out of the blue’ to divert the youngster away from the Red Devils.
The newspaper state that the 17-year-old will be going to Stamford Bridge and has even done medical tests with the Blues. He is set to sign a seven-year deal with Chelsea with another as an option but will remain in Alvalade next season.
There is no mention of the price Chelsea have paid, but Quenda’s contract does include a €100m release clause. Record state this price will only be achieved with bonuses and objectives.
Mais Futebol report that Quenda is ‘closed at Chelsea’, with them and Sporting already in agreement for the 17-year-old Portuguese international.
He will finish this season in Portugal and then next season as well before joining the Blues in July 2026. Sporting will reportedly receive €51m fixed plus bonuses based on various goals.
They have beaten Manchester United in the race for the player, with a ‘very fast and surgical’ move ensuring they jumped ahead of their Premier League rivals and got the deal done.
