Earlier today, we covered a quick story from Tuttosport, who were hyping up an interview they held with Mino Raiola.
The Italian newspaper published a video about the upcoming article, where they teased a section about Manchester United and Pogba, with the agent saying it was over between the club and player.
There wasn’t a lot more to go on, but it was very clear the representative intended on trying to help his client get a move away from Old Trafford, where he has recently struggled for form, goal against West Ham United aside.
Well, it seems Tuttosport couldn’t wait until tomorrow, publishing the bit about Pogba ahead of schedule on their website, where Raiola made everything crystal clear about the France international’s future.
He said: “There’s no point beating around the bush. It’s better to speak clearly, look ahead and not waste time looking for culprits: Paul is unhappy at Manchester United. He is no longer able to express himself as he would like and as is expected of him. He has to change teams, change the air.
“He has a contract that will expire in a year and a half, in the summer of 2022, but I believe the best solution for all parties is to sell him in the next transfer window. Otherwise, the Old Trafford club, with whom relations are excellent, know well that they would risk losing him on a free transfer, given that, for the moment, it’s not the player’s intention to extend his contract.
“If someone doesn’t understand it, ergo they understand very little about football. In any case, let them blame me if Paul leaves next summer.”
There you have it: Mino Raiola has climbed his hill and is prepared to die on it, welcoming all criticism and abuse.
It’s not the first time he’s done this for his clients, and it certainly won’t be the last, but the ball is now in Manchester United’s court, and they will have a big decision to make over the coming months.
