Erik Sviatchenko wants to continue at FC Midtjylland, reports Ekstra Bladet.

The Celtic owned defender was open when he moved back to Danish football, and explained he wanted to attract clubs in England, either in the Premier League or Championship.

Brendan Rodgers had plumped for other options, and the FC Midtjylland loanwas seen as a shop window away from Celtic Park.

But something along the way must have changed, with it being claimed Sviatchenko has agreed a long deal team with the Danish club.

Now the two clubs simply need to agree a transfer fee, and on that note Ekstra Bladet say they’ve found out Celtic and FC Midtjylland are meeting today to try and find an agreement.

The general intention is there from both sides of talks, but deals often fall apart when transfer fee expectations can be very different.

Celtic will know they’d likely get more selling the defender to an English club and with it being so early in the transfer window, they probably won’t be ready to offer any discounts.
