Earlier today, France Football reported that Marseille have offered to take Celtic’s Moussa Dembele on loan with an obligation to purchase.
L’Equipe also relays the same information and having signed Kevin Strootman from AS Roma, they claim Rudi Garica’s side will find it difficult to secure the 22-year-old’s services.
The newspaper also claims Lyon’s Mariano Diaz is expected to rejoin Real Madrid and the club have identified the ex-Fulham man and Lille’s Nicolas Pepe as targets.
Bruno Génésio’s side have started discussions with the Bhoys, who were initially reluctant to entertain the approach. However, their ‘position is not as closed as it seems’ because Celtic had ‘promised’ the striker that he would be allowed to leave, if they receive a satisfactory offer between €15-20m.
The attacker’s contract runs down in 2020 and L’Equipe believe it’s possibly the last transfer window for Brendan Rodgers’ side to earn well from his sale. At the same time, they also ‘regret’ the timing of Lyon’s approach and are hoping to find a replacement for him.
Meanwhile, Dembele has not opposed the idea of playing in the Ligue 1 and is aware the sporting challenges would improve his chances of making it to France’s squad.
It should be seen how this saga pans out in the final days of the transfer window.
