NEC forward Jordan Larsson has told the Swedish media he may need to evaluate his future with the Dutch side in the new year.
The 20 year old was wildly linked with a move to Celtic and Rangers in January, before he took the decision to sign for NEC.
Brendan Rodgers and Pedro Caixinha may look to recruit in the new year, and the youngster could be a wildcard option if Celtic and Rangers want to bolster their attacks. Scott Sinclair and James Forrest are Celtic’s top scorers overall this season, and Rodgers has other options.
At Rangers Alfredo Morelos and Graham Dorrans between have netted ten times between them for Rangers.
Speaking to Hd.se, Larsson was asked about his future in the Netherlands, after failing to make an impact since his arrival at NEC: “Something must happen for me to stay. I didn’t come here to sit on the bench. Something has to happen.”
During the last winter transfer window the Daily Record reported links from Celtic and Rangers to Larsson, before he moved to NEC.
Given his dad’s legendary status at Celtic (Henrik Larsson), a move to Celtic Park would have been seen as the eye catching move for the youngster, rather than head to Ibrox.
Rangers have also changed managers since their reported initial interest in Larsson, with Caixinha taking over from Mark Warburton in March. The Swede has also gone on record to say he wouldn’t entertain a move to Rangers.
