Former Leeds United sporting director Nicola Salerno has told the Italian media he would consider a move back to England. Salerno recently resigned from his role at Palermo after just a few months with the Serie A side.
Speaking to TMW, Salerno was asked if he would consider a move to back to England, and a reunion with Massimo Cellino at Leeds United.
The Italian confirmed he would be prepared to return to the country, and a move to Leeds United is something he would be open to. However, Salerno revealed no approach has been made by Cellino to bring him back to Elland Road.
“I could go back to England. These are possibilities I can only think about, but for now there’s been nothing concrete,” said Salerno, when specifically asked about Leeds United.
Salerno was recently quizzed about his spell with Leeds United, and was asked why he choose to join the club.
“So many ups and downs, but we are bound by a deep friendship. When he called me at Leeds, I said yes without thinking twice,” said.
Cellino appointed Salerno as the Leeds United sporting director when he purchased the club in 2014. The pair had previously worked together when Cellino owned Cagliari.
