There are likely to be few guarantees in the January transfer window, but one that seems to be becoming more and more apparent is Patrick Cutrone leaving Fiorentina.
It’s been brewing for quite some time, but the Wolverhampton striker, currently on loan with the Serie A side, isn’t getting the game time he wants to continue his development, meaning a new solution needs to be found.
Interest in him isn’t short, with half of the Italian league seemingly keen on getting a deal done for his services, but nothing concrete has emerged just yet.
That being said, an exit from Fiorentina has now all but been confirmed by the club’s director of football, Daniele Pradè following their 0-0 draw against Bologna on Sunday.
He said, relayed by Corriere dello Sport: “Regarding Cutrone, Patrick is 22 and wants to find space to continue his growth: we can’t guarantee it, therefore we need to be good at finding a solution together, Wolverhampton included”.
That means it’s not just up to Fiorentina to shop him around, but those at Molineux in charge of transfers have also been urged to help find the young forward a new club.
The likeliest outcome would be the end of his current loan before a new one is organised in Serie A, but there will first be a need to make sure it’s the right project for him, trying to avoid a repeat of his start of the campaign in Florence that saw him start no games in the league.
Maybe a quick call to Uncle Jorge could do the trick?
