The return of Antonio Conte to the Serie A is a rumour which has been growing in the Italian media lately, as local outlets don’t believe his future at Tottenham Hotspur is guaranteed.
The latest comments on this possibility were made on CMIT TV, where market intermediary Ivan Reggiani was interviewed to discuss several topics.
Asked about Conte’s potential stay at Tottenham, the official pointed out several issues the manager has at the London side, claiming he should be ‘able to choose’ where to work at in the next season.
“The money is there, but it’s not property, it’s big loans. The club is heavily indebted, it carries the burden of the stadium and bankruptcy seasons, with salaries equal to other more noble in England,” said Reggiani.
“I believe that Antonio Conte at the moment is able to choose, he is certainly one of the best coaches in the world. In recent years he has made some risky choices, he is one of those podium coaches, one of the three in the world at 100%.”
Reggiani also pointed out that with Massimiliano Allegri likely to leave Juventus this summer, they’re candidates to land Conte.
“Why not, Juve above all, it can happen even this summer. I don’t think Allegri will be able to reconstruct what it was in the past winning years next year. He needs a change of scenery after getting this wrong wave. I think Nedved in management is also leaving.”
Antonio Conte’s contract with Tottenham runs until 2023, so a departure from the club this summer would obviously require discussions between him and the board.
Now, since Spurs director Fabio Paratici left Juventus not too long ago, perhaps his presence could make things easier for the manager to get back to the Old Lady, if he makes it clear he no longer sees his future in London.
