Burnley have made a €15m bid for Lyon’s Maxwel Cornet but need to convince the player into the move to Turf Moor.
That’s according to Le Progres, who say the Frenchman has an eye on a move to Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin.
The newspaper explains that Cornet is on the list of players that Lyon want to move on before the end of the window as there are players in front of him upfront, and the arrival of Emerson Palmieri will see him blocked at left-back.
Unlike other players, they ‘have been able to get a move for’ for the 24-year-old, with Burnley having offered a ‘little over €15m’ for his services.
However, ‘nothing has been done’ as the player is believed to have a preference for Hertha Berlin in Germany.
The Bundesliga side are in the process of selling Matheus Cunha to Atlético Madrid for €30m, so they would, theoretically at least, be able to make an offer to Lyon for their man.
There’s no indication they will, though, which could be a boost for Burnley at this point, although Sean Dyche will need to do some convincing by the sounds of it.
