According to a claim in the Turkish media, Wolfsburg have tabled a bid for Newcastle United target Cenk Tosun.
There have been several reports in recent weeks the Premier League side are keen to sign the 26 year old in the next window after their previous attempts this summer.
Sporx claim Wolfsburg have offered €10m for the Besiktas, as they look to partner the Turkey international with Mario Gomez. The Bundesliga side have got off to poor start to the season, and are looking to put this right by signing Tosun.
However, it’s likely they will face competition from Newcastle United and Sporx report Rafael Benitez’s side are continuing to insist on the player.
On Saturday we covered reports Turkey that Newcastle United face a fight with Serie A giants AC Milan to sing Tosun, along with fellow Premier League side Crystal Palace.
Rafael Benitez wanted to sign the forward in the summer, but Besiktas rejected Newcastle United’s bid, thought to be around £8m… so about a €2m difference at the currently poor exchange rate.
In recent weeks Newcastle United have revived their interest in Tosun, and they got a lowdown on the Besiktas attacker during Turkey’s recent internationals against Iceland and Finland.
