Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson has confirmed to the Swedish press he recently had his tonsils removed, and has made the experience sound like a bad case of Man-Flu.

The 26-year-old is currently training with his former club Malmo to get in peak fitness for Sweden’s upcoming internationals.

Speaking to Fotbollskanalen, Jansson was asked about his first training session with Malmo, after last week undergoing some light gym exercises at the club.

The Leeds United defender revealed he felt tired after the session due to the effects of not training for two weeks. The Swede said after his surgery he’s not be able to do anything, and his first full training session has been difficult.

“Completely dead. Brutal. I was operated on recently, I had my tonsils removed from my throat, so I’ve not been training. It’s the first time I’ve trained in two weeks,” said the Leeds United player.

Pontus Jansson missed Leeds United’s last game of the season, against Wigan Athletic, due to suspension, and it seems he used the time to have his surgery ahead of the internationals in June.
