Brighton and Hove Albion are following Shakhtar Donetsk winger Tetê as Roberto de Zerbi eyes a reunion with the player.
That’s according to Calciomercato.it, who say Brighton are one of several sides eyeing up a move for the 22-year-old.
They report that Juventus are currently looking at the winger as a potential replacement for Angel di Maria, who could depart in the summer when his contract comes to an end.
The ‘delicate situation’ of his contract means that the Italian club are scouting around for possible replacements and Tetê is one that they had identified.
He is also ‘being followed’ by AC Milan and Brighton, who are showing an interest through De Zerbi, who worked with him during his time in charge of Shakhtar.
Because of that, Shakhtar are ‘ready to consider offers’ for the player, particularly as he has fallen out of favour at loan club Lyon since Laurent Blanc’s arrival at the club.
That is diminishing his value further and makes the likelihood of the French side buying him outright a remote one at this moment in time.
That means next summer could be Shakhtar’s last chance to cash in on him and the price he’d be available for could be seen as a ‘lucrative’ one by the likes of Brighton.
One potential stumbling block is the fact that Tetê doesn’t possess an EU passport, something that is a problem for Juventus as they don’t have a non-EU space in their squad.
Brighton might face a similar issue given the new rules post Brexit, but that’s an issue for further down the line, for now they are simply considered as one of the contenders for Tetê’s signature.
