Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Pascal Groß looks set to extend his stay at the club rather than return to Germany.
That’s according to Kicker, who say the 30-year-old will ‘remain loyal’ to the Seagulls rather than leave on a free transfer this summer.
Groß is out of contract in the summer and had appeared to be set to leave Brighton, with a return to the Bundesliga mooted.
Indeed, his agent had even held talk with potential clubs but a return to form at the end of the season appears to have changed the plans.
A goal and an assist in the final day win over West Ham saw him named player of the match, and Kicker now say ‘in all likelihood’ it will not be his last for Brighton.
Both sides are ‘interested in a further cooperation’ beyond his current contract and according to Kicker’s information, talks about an extension are ‘at an advanced stage’.
He will turn his back on a potential return to the Bundesliga and instead remain loyal to Graham Potter’s side by signing a new deal.
Brighton had always been his ‘first point of contact’ in terms of his future, but several Bundesliga clubs had asked about him.
Contrary to speculation, Werder Bremen did not seriously consider a move as they would have been unable to offer the same as Brighton financially.
