Italian side Salernitana are eyeing an ambitious move for Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani when his contract at Old Trafford expires.
That’s according to president Danilo Iervolino, who has revealed his side will make the Uruguayan an offer to return to Italy.
Cavani is out of contract at Manchester United next month and is set to depart Old Trafford after a season in which he has seen his game time reduced by Cristiano Ronaldo’s return, and a series of fitness issues.
He’s keen to find a new club and be a regular again, having shown during his time in England that he remains capable of playing at the top of the game.
He will have a number of offers on the table this summer, with clubs in Italy, Spain and South America all thought to be keen on a deal.
There is another club who are dreaming of a transfer when he leaves Manchester United, though, and that is Salernitana, whose president has confirmed they will make an effort.
“It is a dream that we will try to realise,” Calciomercato.it report him saying.
“Sabatini gave me a list of names, but there is no one from Napoli.
“We want to put less strain on our coronaries; next season, we want to save ourselves with more tranquillity.”
