Arsenal are interested in a deal to bring Serge Gnabry back to the club from Bayern Munich this summer should he depart Germany.

That’s according to BILD journalist Christian Falk, who says a move from the Gunners is, however, ‘financially unrealistic’.

Gnabry is out of contract at the Allianz Arena next summer and so far hasn’t signed a new deal with the German giants despite a season that’s seen him rack up 17 goals and 10 assists in 45 games in all competitions.

He’s been linked with a move away as a result, with this the last chance for Bayern to get money for the German if he doesn’t sign a new deal.

A return to Arsenal has been mooted, and Falk insists that the Gunners are ‘interested’ in making that happen.

The forward ‘can also imagine’ a return to the Emirates, but there is one significant snag, Arsenal don’t have the finances to make it happen.

Their failure to make the Champions League means their finances are not as strong as they might have been, and thus, a move for Gnabry this summer is now ‘financially unrealistic’.

Their next chance is likely to be next year when he’ll be available on a free, given he doesn’t sign a new contract with Bayern in the meantime.
