Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Diego Gomez has admitted it is a ‘unique feeling’ to be playing for the club in the Premier League.
La Nacion cover comments from the 21-year-old today after he played a starring role in the win over Bournemouth.
The Paraguay international joined Brighton in a €13m deal from Inter Miami on January 1st and has been slowly integrated into the squad since then, with five appearances in the Premier League so far.
He started his first game in the 2-1 win against Bournemouth this week, helping Brighton to make it three wins on the bounce after 4-0 and 3-0 wins over Southampton and Chelsea respectively.
The step up to the Premier League is a big one for Gomez, who came through the ranks at Libertad in Paraguay before move to America with Inter Miami in a €2.7m deal in 2023.
He only made 40 appearances for them but impressed, bagging seven goals and seven assists and eventually doing enough to convince Brighton to bring him to England last month.
He’s now relishing the chance to shine n the Premier League and admits football in England is nothing like he’s experienced previously.
“I am very happy with the victory we achieved and also to start playing as a starter, I hope to continue like this and with this streak, winning the matches,” La Nacion report him saying to Tigo Sports.
“It is the most competitive League, with great players and teams that always fight you regardless of their position in the table. It is a unique feeling to be able to play here.
“The league here is crazy, it’s very special, wherever you go there are good pitches, good grass, people go to the stadiums regardless of their location, they really like football.”
