Real Madrid are tracking Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Yves Bissouma as a cheap alternative to French duo Paul Pogba and Eduardo Camavinga.
That’s according to Defensa Central, who say the Spanish giants may have to compete with Arsenal and Liverpool for his signature.
They report that Bissouma is ‘one of the great sensations’ of the Premier League this season and is ‘responsible’ for the ‘great season’ that Graham Potters side are having.
A ‘very physical midfielder’ with ‘great ability to reach the area’ his performances for Brighton have caught the eye of Zinedine Zidane back in Spain.
He believes the player is a ‘modern midfielder’ and aware of the difficult financial situation the club is in, knows they cannot make big economic efforts to sign players.
That rules out moves for his favoured pair of Pogba and Camavinga, and so Bissouma has emerged as the ‘most profitable’ option for Madrid.
He’s valued around €13m although the website speculates that Brighton could ask for €35-40m to sanction a deal.
Madrid are not the only interested party, with the Brighton man having ‘raised a lot of expectations’ in the Premier League and both Liverpool and Arsenal having already been interested in him.
Thus, Madrid will have to ‘compete’ with those two if they do make a move to sign him in the near future.
Whether they do, though, remains to be seen. We find this claim a little dubious at best, particularly as it says Brighton are having a great season when in reality they are two points outside the relegation zone.
That suggests the website are not really all that in the know and have instead picked a random name, one that’s been earning positive reviews this season admittedly, and linked him with a move to Real Madrid.
Still, if you see this rumour pop up in the next few weeks or at any point in January, you’ll know where it came from.
