Brighton & Hove Albion have signed one player in Diego Gomez in the January transfer window so far, but they’re certainly not done there.

The Seagulls are interested in signing Lazio midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and La Lazio Siamo Noi have reported on their chase of the 23-year-old.

The outlet claim the Nigeria international’s performances for the Rome club have attracted attention from clubs across Europe. Brighton want to push for European qualification and the midfielder is on their radar.

Fabian Hurzeler’s side have already ‘forwarded a request’ for information about Dele-Bashiru, but Lazio have issued a negative response.

The Italian side have no intention of selling the midfielder, who arrived at the club in the summer transfer window and has grown in stature. They believe that Dele-Bashiru has a lot of room to grow at Lazio and they want to keep him for the longer term.

The Nigerian is currently on loan from Turkish side Hatayspor, but Lazio have an obligation to sign him permanently in the summer.

Will Brighton take no for an answer? Maybe, it’s perhaps one they were looking at more long term anyway.
