Last week, we covered claims from Italy that the idea of Brentford signing Genoa’s Morten Frendrup in January is gaining prominence.
Journalist Niccolò Ceccarini, writing in his column for TuttoMercatoWeb, now backs up Brentford’s interest in the 23-year-old.
He claims AC Milan are likely to be active in the winter market and are planning to strengthen their midfield. They have identified several targets, including Frendrup and Real Betis’ Johnny Cardoso.
The Rossoneri will have to be wary of the competition from the Premier League, who are looking closely at the Denmark international. It’s claimed Brentford are ‘leading the way’ from England to secure his services.
Frendrup would have the prospect of playing in the Champions League, if he were to join Milan in the next window.
Alternatively, the Genoa player can meet his compatriots Christian Nørgaard, Mathias Jensen, Mikkel Damsgaard, Mads Roerslev and manager Thomas Frank at Brentford. Ceccarini makes no mention of the Dane’s preference between Milan and the Bees.
Earlier this year, Frendrup extended his contract at the Serie A side until 2028. He’s made eight appearances this season.
