Tuesday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport reports Brentford are ‘in a hurry’ to complete the signing of Mikkel Damsgaard, so much so that they’ve doubled their offer for the Sampdoria player in the space of a week.

The Italian newspaper reports that Brentford initially came forward with an offer worth €8m plus bonuses for the player. Unsurprisingly, this wasn’t enough for the Serie A club, who rejected the offer, but things have changed since then.

Brentford’s offer now stands at around €20m including bonuses, with the crucial aspect being that the guaranteed amount has risen to €16m, something which is much more acceptable for Sampdoria.

Gazzetta dello Sport now believe a move is on the cards, and that Damsgaard will be playing in English football next season.

It’s not stated that the offer has yet been accepted, although it’s made clear the bid has caused those in charge at the Italian club to wobble, given the profit it would provide them with.
