Brentford may be handed their chance to sign PSV Eindhoven striker Isaac Babadi in the January transfer window, with his contract demands causing issues at the Dutch club.

Voetbal Nieuws, relaying information from Feyenoord Transfermarkt, cover the player today amid reports that Feyenoord are also looking at him.

They explain that PSB are still busy negotiating a new contract with the youngster but that is ‘expected to be a challenge’ as the 18-year-old has ‘significant salary demands’.

Babadi’s current contract runs until 2024 but according to Feyenoord Transfermarkt Babadi is asking for a net salary of €1.5m per year. That’s a figure that “neither PSV nor Feyenoord will give him” and so that raises doubts about his future.

Given his deal expires next summer, he will free to talk to clubs about a pre-contract agreement in January and that should interest Brentford.

They were first linked earlier this year when it was stated they were ‘seriously in the market’ for the player and that was followed by a claim they were ‘willing to pay millions’ for his signature.

Then back in August it was claimed that their interest was causing problems for PSV in contract negotiations, with the player’s agent using it to drive up his price.

That now seems to have led to a point where the player’s demands have led to an impasse, something Brentford may now be able to take advantage of.
