For the past few months, maybe years, Fluminense have been linked to Chelsea defender Thiago Silva.

The Brazilian side are hopeful the centre-back will return to the club one day, and since his contract with the Blues expires this summer, that could happen very soon.

It turns out that as outlet Trivela now shares a fresh story on the situation, they show that Fluminense may have to wait a little longer.

That’s because Thiago Silva is said to be giving Chelsea the priority in case he gets an extension offer from the Blues.

Many reports have been claiming that the Stamford Bridge side are not counting on him for next season, but with no official stance from the club, it seems that’s still a possibility.

According to Trivela, Silva is then ‘waiting for the market’ to take a decision on his future. He’s only set to listen to Fluminense in case Chelsea do not put a new contract on the table.

It’s pointed out that the defender has two sons standing out at the Blues’ youth ranks, and that’s another factor that plays against a return to Brazil.
