There are claims coming out of Brazil on Friday evening that West Ham have agreed a deal to sign Fabian Balbuena from Corinthians.
Balbuena is a 26 year old central defender who is a Paraguay international. He signed for Corinthians in 2016 from Libertad and has done well enough there to attract interest from several clubs over the past few months.
The defender’s contract with Corinthians lasts until 2021, so a transfer fee will be required of West Ham.
Cesar Merlo of Tcy Sports, a big media company in South America was the first with the claim, and he states the Hammers have come to an agreement with the Brazilian club and Balbuena will sign a contract for four season.
There is no mention of the transfer fee.
The story is now being picked up more widely in South America, with Paraguay’s ABC also running the Merlo claim.
Should the agreement be correct then it would be assumed Balbuena is a Manuel Pellegrini pick.
