Reliable Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte comes up with an interesting story on Neymar’s future this week. According to the website, Spanish giants Real Madrid have recently sent representatives to Santos to talk with the player’s father.
The conversations are being handled by Juni Calafat, the man who takes care of Real Madrid’s business in South America, having recently closed the signings of Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo.
Globo Esporte claims that the talks are happening, but the situation isn’t easy, as the star doesn’t have a release clause at Paris Saint Germain.
With the lack of a tag price, what Real Madrid or Neymar would have to do is to convince the PSG owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi to negotiate his sale. That sounds unlikely, given that the star was signed for €222m just a year ago.
The website says that Neymar is feeling fine in PSG’s squad, where he has Thiago Silva, Marquinhos and Daniel Alves as friends. But there are two things that bother him in France: the lack of competitiveness and the violence from opponents.
Globo Esporte includes quotes from two sources close to the process. One told them: “Maybe not in this next window, but I think that sometime his going to Real Madrid will happen”. The other said that “the truth is that there is an unresolved relationship between Neymar and Real Madrid”.
Real Madrid have been trying to sign Neymar since he was a teenager at Santos, when he even travelled to Spain to meet Florentino Perez, but decided to stay at the Brazilian club.
The Galacticos later battled with Barcelona to take the player from Santos in 2013, but failed again. Now Globo Esporte claims that the talks with his father have been going on since the end of last year.
