Since the Italian press claimed Arsenal have made a €12m bid for the Grêmio defender Walter Kannemann, the Brazilian media has been trying hard to find out something about it.
But it turns out that all the claims are being denied, both by the club and by the player’s agent.
It started with the Grêmio manager Renato Portaluppi, who said he knows nothing about it during a press conference: “While no concrete proposals arrive, there’s no use in continuing talking.
“If that happens, well, that’s where we’ll say our position. If Grêmio lose one or another player, you can be sure that we’ll find a replacement too.”
Outlet Correio do Povo managed to speak to Kannemann’s agent, Martín Wainbuch, who only said that ‘so far, there’s nothing concrete’.
Meanwhile, Radio Grenal spoke to their own sources about the offer, and heard that Grêmio’s board haven’t had any contact. His agent said he wasn’t contacted either, but claimed that Arsenal made an approach in some other transfer window.
Radio Grenal also says that Grêmio’s board know they could receive a good offer for the defender this summer, although the amount demanded by them isn’t revealed by the outlet.
In great form for Grêmio for years now, Walter Kannemann is in Argentina’s preliminary list for the Copa America. So perhaps Arsenal fans can take a look at him during the tournament.
