AS Monaco are looking to strengthen their centre-back position for next season and they have ‘tracked’ FC Nantes’ Diego Carlos and Caglar Soyuncu of Leicester City, according to Le10 Sport.

The latter arrived at the King Power Stadium from SC Freiburg on deadline day of the last summer transfer window, but the 22-year-old has struggled so far in his first term in the England.

He was restricted to just four starts in the Premier League, despite arriving at the club with a reputation as a ‘future great defender’ of European football.

It’s claimed the Ligue 1 side were after the Turkey international two years ago and they have once again activated contact.

Even though the defender has struggled with the Foxes, Monaco manager Leonardo Jardim is convinced of his ‘high-level’ qualities.

At Stade Louis II, they are of the belief that if they sign Soyuncu and if he can raise his performance, then his transfer could be excellent, both sporting wise and financially.

We know what you’re thinking here. Adrien Silva and Soyuncu for Youri Tielemans… it’s worth a go.
