According to a claim in the Italian media, Bournemouth goalkeeper Asmir Begovic is on the verge of joining AC Milan.
This week it was confirmed Pepe Reina would be joining Aston Villa following the long-term injury to Tom Heaton, leaving the Serie A side without an experienced keeper as back up to Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Gazzetta dello Sport today report Begovic has flown to Italy ahead of his proposed transfer to AC Milan. It’s claimed the Bournemouth outcast will undergo a medical before his move to the San Ciro is made official.
The Italian newspaper say the Bosnian will be 2nd choice to Donnarumma, a role Reina had been playing since his move to AC Milan 18 months ago.
Begovic hasn’t featured for Eddie Howe’s side this season after being sent on on loan to Qarabağ during the last transfer window. The former Chelsea has since returned to Bournemouth, but it seems he’s surplus to requirements with the Premier League side.
The player is contracted to the Cherries until June 2021.
