Monday’s edition of Marca has revealed that Bournemouth made an offer for a Real Madrid youngster recently but had it knocked back.
The Spanish newspaper says Sergio Lopez was the man in question, and Bournemouth will have been impressed with the youngster’s performances in Real Madrid’s youth ranks last season, playing under Guti.
Lopez is a 19 year old right back who has been ‘living the dream’ at the spanish club this summer, going through his first preseason, and tour, with Real Madrid’s first team squad.
The player had the opportunity to leave after Bournemouth offered a flat fee of €5m plus a further €4m in bonus payments. Making a total of €19m, that would have been a big fee for what was essentially a youth team player.
After the offer was knocked back, Lopez signed a new contract with Real Madrid, taking him through to June 2022.
Marca say the player is one of the ‘jewels of the quarry’ at the Spanish capital club.
