Bournemouth have been ‘pushing the accelerator’ for Real Valladolid youngster Iván Fresneda in the last few days.

That’s according to Sport, who cover the player today and comments from Valladolid sports director Fran Sánchez regarding a possible transfer to Bournemouth or elsewhere.

Fresneda has been heavily linked with a move away from Spain this summer having emerged as one of the biggest talents in Europe over the last year.

Some of the big clubs in Europe have been chasing his signature for a while, including Barcelona, have been eyeing his signature as a result but a move is yet to happen.

Now, according to Sport, Bournemouth are making their move and have been ‘pushing the accelerator’ on a possible move in the last few days.

In fact, according to the newspaper, they have ‘already informed’ Valladolid that they are ‘willing to pay’ the player’s €17m release clause to get him this summer.

Whether that will be enough to win the race for the full-back’s signature remains to be seen, although Sánchez has hinted it will be him and his club that determine the cost of a transfer.

“Some proposal has come from Fresneda, not in writing, but verbally, about what they can pay, but we have not responded yet,” he said.

“He is going to join on Wednesday, and he is one of our players. If an offer arrives that we consider sufficient, it may come out, but as of today there is nothing immediate. The value of the player is up to us.”
