Sevilla have received a late injury blow, report local Seville sport newspaper Estadio Deportivo. Simon Kjaer wasn’t considered a major doubt for the game against Liverpool, but hasn’t been named in the match-day squad to face Jurgen Klopp’s side.
The Champions League match is a meaningful one, qualification could be secured this evening and it could also be determined whether Liverpool or Sevilla top the group, having an impact on the next round draw.
Estadio Deportivo say Kjaer is feeling discomfort in his left adductor, a problem more commonly referred to as being a groin issue. He played the last 15 minutes against Celta Vigo at the weekend, which suggested the Danish defender would be fine, but the situation has obviously deteriorated since.
At less of a loss to Sevilla, Ganso is also out of the squad. Sebastien Corchia, who had been a worry after picking up a knee problem at the weekend, is considered fit enough to make the match-day squad.
The loss of Kjaer is a boost for Liverpool’s chances, and Sevilla will be disapointed with the news.
