Manchester City youngster Javairô Dilrosun continues to get a lot of attention in Portugal, where Benfica have reportedly made an offer for him.
The Eagles’ wish to have the 19-year-old for next season has been reported for a few months now. But the local press continues to feed the story by telling everything there is to know about the player.
This Thursday, newspaper O Jogo interviewed the manager of the U-20 Dutch National Team, Peter van Der Veen, to speak about Dilrosun’s qualities.
The coach described the youngster as “the type of player that everyone who goes to the stadium likes to see”, and even compared him to Arjen Robben.
“We can say he’s a bit like Robben, but he plays on the other side. Being left-footed, he has the same kind of dribble as Robben and speed with the ball at his feet,” van Der Veen told O Jogo.
“I think Dilrosun is that kind of player that doesn’t exist in abundance. And I say this by the power that he shows in the one to one and for the way he goes against the opponents. He’s a bit of an old-fashioned left-winger, with dribbling skills, crossing and shooting at goal when he has spaces.”O Jogo recalls that Dilrosun is leaving Manchester City after n accepting the club’s offer to renew his contract. The player’s intention is to have first team football in the near future, but that’s not the plan the Citizens would have for him right now.
Apparently there’s still no answer to Benfica’s offer, partly because his contract with Manchester City will only be over in the summer. But considering the local press’ confidence in having regular stories about the player, it seems the Eagles are well positioned in the race.
