West Ham United are showing an interest in Besiktas star Mario Gomez according to claims in the Turkish media. The former Bayan Munich forward is currently away with Germany at the Euros, and has played his part in his country getting to the quarter finals.
CNN Turk have today revealed West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic has been watching Gomez closely during the Euros, which could result in the Hammers moving in for the player.
Bilic is keen to bring in a top forward during the current transfer window, and West Ham have already been linked with AC Milan star Carlos Bacca, Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette, Marseille’s Michy Batshuayi and several other strikers across Europe and beyond.
Gomez is still technically a Fiorentina player after spending last season on loan with Besiktas, but the Turkish side have a right of redemption on him.
Bilic will be hoping his close ties with his former club Besiktas will help him land Gomez, and a deal should be possible if the interest is genuine.
