Kasper Schmeichel leaving Leicester City in the summer window was a surprise for many.
With the Foxes going through a difficult period, losing their goalkeeper and captain, and a man who had been a huge part of the club’s successes over the past decade, wasn’t thought to be on the agenda.
The Denmark international, however, had a clause which allowed to take on a new adventure and he chose to do so in the south of France with Nice. Things haven’t gone to plan and the Ligue 1 side now find themselves 13th in the table.
When it comes to Schmeichel, it’s stated ‘At best… disappointing’. The stopper was expected to bring leadership but that hasn’t happened and the French newspaper make clear he’s closer to club advisor Dave Brailsford than he is to manager Lucien Favre and captain Dante.
Youngster Marcin Bulka is pushing hard to take his place, and it’s suggested Favre and his staff favour the 22-year-old but are in a difficult ‘political’ situation.
