Over the weekend, Chelsea midfielder Jorginho was linked to Barcelona.

Since the midfielder’s contract with the Blues expires at the end of the season, it was claimed the Catalan side were interested in signing him as a free agent next summer. Their idea would be to have him to replace Sergio Busquets in their squad.

Now as the Spanish media responds to this rumour, it’s claimed that it’s not Barcelona who became interested in the Chelsea player, but actually the other way around.

Marca journalist Luis Rojo writes on Twitter that, ‘a few days ago’, Jorginho offered himself to the Camp Nou club. The Catalan side, however, are not considering his signing.

Judging by how Barça acted in the last transfer window, signing the Chelsea player for free would definitely sound like a move they could plan to do. Yet with the season just starting, perhaps it’s too early to think about a free signing next summer, or to get to a deal with the Blues for a January move.

Jorginho’s agent has always insisted his priority would be to stay at the Stamford Bridge, but it seems there’s no deal for a renewal so far.
